Kakamega deputy governor Ayub Savula has dismissed Nairobi senator Edwin Sifuna's presidential ambitions, declaring that President William Ruto would defeat him without breaking a sweat in the 2027 General Election.

Source: Facebook Savula made the remarks during the launch of an electricity transformer in Butere Constituency, where he directed sharp criticism at the senator over a recent television interview in which he suggested he could mount a competitive challenge against the incumbent.

The deputy governor said he had sat through Sifuna's interview only to come away deeply underwhelmed, accusing the senator of offering no clear agenda or tangible proposals to Kenyans who tuned in expecting substance.

He further turned his attention to Sifuna's reported engagement with Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka , describing the partnership as lacking any meaningful political weight.

Savula contrasted Ruto's record with what he characterised as Sifuna's habit of self-promotion without delivery.

The Kakamega DG argued that infrastructure and development projects completed under the current administration would secure the president a second term.

He urged opposition politicians to reconsider their prospects, warning them that unseating Ruto in 2027 would be far more difficult than they anticipated.

Savula also used the occasion to call on leaders from the Mulembe Nation to close ranks ahead of the election cycle, arguing that a united Luhya bloc would carry considerably greater negotiating leverage.

Butere MP Tindi Mwale echoed that message, pressing Luhya leaders to back former Kakamega governor Wycliffe Oparanya as Ruto's preferred running mate in 2027.

Mwale warned that without unity, the community risked losing the opportunity to secure the deputy presidency.

Source: Facebook The MP pointed to what he described as tangible benefits from the broad-based government arrangement, including his own nomination to the Public Accounts Committee, electricity connections across villages in the region, and road expansion projects in western Kenya .

He said he had no intention of leaving the government, citing ongoing development projects as sufficient reason to remain and campaign for Ruto's re-election.
