Source: Facebook During an event in Mauche, Nakuru county on Friday, July 31, Ruku accused him of peddling divisive politics and betraying the Mt Kenya region's long-standing alliance with President William Ruto's administration.

Ruku questioned the basis on which Gachagua was positioning himself as the voice of the Mt Kenya community, arguing that no one had ever formally conferred that status upon him.

The CS drew a pointed contrast between Gachagua and his successor, Deputy President Kithure Kindiki , describing both as sons of the Mt Kenya region but as fundamentally different in character and conduct.

In a lengthy address, Ruku recalled that the region had supported the country's leadership through successive administrations, including those of Jomo Kenyatta, Mwai Kibaki and Uhuru Kenyatta , adding that the arrangement under Ruto was intended to continue that tradition.

Ruku defended Kindiki, arguing that he deserves the same respect and recognition as any other leader from the Mt Kenya region.

The CS rejected suggestions that Kindiki should be treated as less deserving than Gachagua, insisting that both leaders belong to the region and should be regarded equally.

He praised Kindiki's performance since taking office, saying he had demonstrated capable leadership and should be accorded the respect due to the holder of the country's second-highest office.

Ruku also appealed to the Kikuyu community to reject any attempts to create divisions between leaders from the region, saying there should be no distinction between those considered more important and those viewed as lesser.
