Nairobi - Wiper Democratic Movement leader Kalonzo Musyoka has condemned the arrest of Mukurweini Member of Parliament John Kaguchia, accusing the government of applying the law selectively against opposition figures.

While distancing himself from incitement in any form, Kalonzo maintained that the Constitution guarantees every Kenyan the right to freedom of expression, and that any legal standard must be applied uniformly.

Kalonzo Points to Unanswered Cases Involving Government Officials

The Wiper leader cited two separate incidents involving government-aligned figures that he argued went unpunished. He referenced a "shoot and kill" directive he attributed to President William Ruto's administration, which he said targeted young Kenyans, and noted that no action was taken over those remarks.

He also pointed to the UDA Secretary General and a sitting Cabinet Secretary, alleging they made tribal insults, with one reportedly describing an entire community as "hyenas." According to Kalonzo, neither case resulted in any legal consequence.

Kalonzo argued that justice in Kenya should not hinge on a person's proximity to power, demanding that the same incitement standard used against Kaguchia be applied to all public officials regardless of whether they serve in government or sit in opposition.
