Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua has made explosive allegations that officers assigned to protect President William Ruto have not received their allowances for four consecutive months, warning that the situation poses a serious security risk.

Source: Twitter Speaking in an online interview Friday evening, July 31, Gachagua stated that he had received the information directly from personnel inside State House who had approached him with their grievances.

The former deputy president argued that deploying disgruntled officers to guard the head of state was a recipe for disaster.

Gachagua also claimed that staff within the Presidential Delivery Service were equally frustrated, citing a shortage of operational vehicles and unpaid allowances as their main complaints.

Central to the allegations is Gachagua's assertion that he maintains a network of loyalists inside the country's critical security and intelligence organs, including individuals close to the presidency, who supply him with sensitive information ordinarily reserved for the head of state.

He directed sharp criticism at President Ruto over the alleged welfare gaps, accusing him of being disengaged from the day-to-day functioning of his own administration.

Gachagua, who was removed from office through an impeachment process in October 2024, has consistently maintained that he retains strong ties within the country's security establishment.

He has previously claimed that officers from the National Intelligence Service (NIS) and other organs continue to share privileged information with him.
